Currently, he serves as the Assistant Manager for the Intelligent Simulation Group at Wistron Taiwan, where the team leverages AI to accelerate design and engineering processes. Dr. Lai’s primary focus is on developing Physics-informed AI for data center digital twins, utilizing CUDA acceleration techniques.Dr. Lai brings extensive experience in machine learning and CFD simulation. He has five years of experience in machine learning modeling for applications involving physics-informed AI and 3D feature reconstruction. Additionally, he possesses over seven years of expertise in designing and analyzing fluid bearings for turbomachines and high-precision machining centers.During his M.S. and early PhD studies, Dr. Lai’s research focused on machine learning applications. He developed two implicit surface modeling methods to refine the geometry of imperfect 3D scattered data obtained from a 3D laser scanner. These methods were based on machine learning frameworks such as kernel methods, relevance vector machines, and unsupervised neural networks.At the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Dr. Lai contributed to two long-term projects centered around turbomachines and high-precision machining centers. His role involved the strategic development of industrial fluid bearings and the intricate design of their advanced lubrication systems. Dr. Lai also possesses experience in vibration signature analysis and dynamic stiffness identification of rotor-bearing systems. He is proficient in setting up data processing pipelines using MATLAB and Simulink for hypothesis testing based on records available from field devices.Dr. Lai holds four invention patents, including:1.
