My primary responsibility is the care of patients when they become ill or injured on our remote site. When people are not being hurt I operate a front end loader (CAT930H) for site services, performing a wide variety of tasks, some of which include loading/offloading freight from planes and semis, transporting hazardous chemicals to the mill, building and leveling off pads made from crush, and clearing snow/spreading sand for traction in the winter.

Rosthern

I worked full-time at this rural ambulance service, responding to any kind of medical or traumatic emergency that happened in our district, at any hour of the day or night. Calls would range anywhere from car accidents and assaults to diabetic and cardiac emergencies, and everything in between. During my time here I was also a First Aid/CPR instructor.

North Battleford

This was my first employer once I entered into the ambulance field. Growing up in the Battlefords, it was a natural choice for me to want to start my career there. Although technically employed part-time, I worked full-time hours, responding to emergencies in the city and its surrounding areas. A big part of this job was also the care and rapid transportation of seriously ill or injured patients into Saskatoon.

North Battleford

I worked casually as ski patrol at this resort just outside of the Battlefords. Although nowhere near the size of a real mountain, I enjoyed it because I had some first hand experience dealing with injuries that often occur on the slopes, including spinal immobilizations and extremity splinting/slinging.
