Program DescriptionSeven Tepees is a youth development organization serving youth from the Mission, WesternAddition, Potrero Hill, and Bayview Districts. The organization provides a college and careerprogram in two San Francisco High Schools serving grades 9 – 12. The programs at our off sitepartner high schools; Mission High School, support the healthy development and guidance intheir transition to adulthood.As an on-site point person at Mission's College and Career Center I support the Mission community of students and staff with college access and post high school materials. I support with majority 12th grade students, while supporting other grades, with Individual counseling - focusing on transition to adulthood issues, including academic, college, and career guidance counseling. Assist college/career development activities – workshops to apply for colleges, financial aide/scholarships, parent advising and information meetings, school assemblies, personalstatement writing seminars, career fair, college tours, drop-in availability in career center. I support in Mission’s Senior AVID and Skills and Strategies classrooms to support students with post high school goals. In the 2017-2018 school year I worked with our program’s middle school class. During summer 2018, I co-taught a 4th and 5th grade summer class at Sanchez Elementary with Mission Graduates. In the 2018-2019 school year I taught with the 2nd grade class and lead enrichment classes for various grades. Plan and lead daily academic and enrichment activities for about twenty students. I planned and lead enrichments throughout the school year including Photography, DIY crafts, story writing, and more. I planned and taught learning units with my 2nd grade class on topics including our personal Narratives and Identity, Kindness with toy drive partnered with the SF Fire Fighters, health and anatomy, and Poetry. Build cultural and educational bridges with students and their families.
