About Derek Marsteller

10/8/19- Making a career shift from strictly development to trying my hand at being a Data Analyst. I'm already fairly versed in NCQA HEDIS measures and the rigors of its scheduling.6/26/19-I was very fortunate to intern as a programmer at General Dynamics while completing the last year of my Computer Science BS degree. The development and QA teams were amazing at teaching me new technical skills and how SDLC works in an Agile healthcare IT business environment. Having demonstrated my skills and ability to work well with others, I was offered full time employment after 8 months.Advancing from quality intern → associate quality analyst → associate programmer → software engineer → senior software engineer has been an awesome experience. I moved from the kid being taught to the senior engineer providing assistance and training to others in technical QA automation and processes and the latest tools in software development. The ability to adapt to change is a skill at the top of my list. Working in a true Agile environment, having our General Dynamics commercial healthcare division sold to Verscend and then merging with Cotiviti, and then to the eventual layoff of myself and several colleagues; I am prepared to work in the constant change often part of software development whether it be new software languages, technology, methodologies, or even a new group of people.
