As a consultant to the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer at FDIC, Mr. McUmber serves senior executive managers on strategic issues relating to information technology (IT), including governance, investments, program management, strategic planning, and security operations. Mr. McUmber excels at working across multiple contractors and FDIC Divisions to obtain buy-in and ensure execution of strategic projects.Mr. McUmber has over 20 years of information technology (IT) and security experience in the federal government, and in private sector healthcare and consulting. Mr. McUmber joined the FDIC as a contractor in February 2012, as an project consultant for the FDIC PMO. In that role, he worked to reduce cybersecurity risk by implementing enterprise wide FISMA security controls projects that were at risk. Mr. McUmber laster was assigned to and assited the OCISO's response to GAO and OIG audits with assessments and Cybersecurity projects that enabled the implementation of the government’s Cybersecurity Framework and to improve the FDIC’s understanding and management of cybersecurity risks.Prior to consulting to the FDIC, Mr. Mcumber was a consultant on heathcare claims processing rewrites for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC and the Department of Labor. He also served in various cybersecurity roles on the GSA TLD program (.GOV).
