Core Valley Lines Transformation Project - Requirements Lead (2018 to Date)The demonstration of compliance with the contractualised requirements as set out during the dialogue/contract negotiation process for the Wales and Borders Grant Agreement is a key deliverable in relation to the Core Valley Lines Transformation scope of work. This programme of work will upgrade and modernise the Core Valley Lines of Wales and convert them to a Metro oriented mode of operation. I have been working as part of the TfW CVL Transformation Engineering Team, leading their detailed work with the contracted delivery partner to agree and monitor the requirements management process, focussing particularly during the initial phases on agreeing contractual documentation hierarchy for interrogation in building the requirements set and also establishing processes to be used in demonstrating that a comprehensive requirements capture has been achieved.Colne to Skipton Line Reinstatement – Engineering Assessment (2018)Engineering assessment of the interventions required in order to reinstate the core section of railway line between Skipton and Colne in support of a wider piece of work by NR to assess the implications of reopening the line on existing operational railway and overall costing for the line reopening. Project management and engineering responsibilities for various telecommunications consultancy projects. Undertook the independent safety assessment of telecommunications issues on new rolling stock classes proposed for use on Railtrack infrastructure including the Alstom Class 390 tilting train proposed for use by Virgin Trains on the West Coast Mainline, the Siemens Class 333 electrical multiple unit for Northern Spirit and the ADtranz Class 375 electrical multiple unit.Project manager and independent safety assessor for the Railtrack generic safety approval for Siemens’ cab secure radio project which involved detailed assessment of product documentation. Short term Telecommunications assistance to Alstom for the rewriting of the Mini CTC project.Undertook a feasibility study and costing exercise for Railtrack for a national railway telecommunications network control centre.

Project engineer responsible for technical management of design, manufacture, interfacing, installation, test and commissioning of signalling, passenger information and time systems for Arlanda International Airport. Also responsible for ensuring the satisfactory completion and documentation of the telecommunications systems for the project,including transmission, telephone, radio, CCTV, public address and SCADA systems.Involvement with technical aspects of various tender submissions including: sub-system specifications, assessment of subcontractor submissions in order to ensure compliance with the customer specification, production of technical system description for input into the tender submission and system performance analysis. Responsibility for managing the changes required to the power systems of the Eurostar trains (designed for operation between London, Paris and Brussels) in order to meet the more stringent electrical interference requirements for operation on the British Railway network north of London.Responsibility for co-ordinating a small team of engineering personnel examining reliability issues during passenger service operation of the Eurostar trains. Responsibility for various areas of work on Docklands Light Railway, including: equipment layout design and verification for interface to the signalling and train control system, systems performance simulation, test and result analysis and editing source data for automatic train operation running profile generation.
