My experiences at Uttermost continue to be enlightening each day I come to the office. I am currently working at the company headquarters and east coast distribution center in Rocky Mount, VA. Additionally, I have also spent significant time in our showroom in High Point, NC in order to gain knowledge on our products. This summer, I have been tasked with tackling two large projects that require a unique blend of my industrial engineering education as well as my past experience in the construction industry. I take pride in working at Uttermost, and I work everyday to ensure we are able to provide great home accessories at a reasonable price for our customers. Over the 41 years Uttermost has been operating, the main facility, which I call my office, has underwent a variety of expansions. The facility now sits at over 600,000 sq. ft., and I have been making a detailed plan that encompasses all of these expansions on Autodesk Revit, a BIM software. With these plans, I am working with the full time managers to retrace the way products are handled in the facility. We plan to introduce new technologies to the distribution center to closely monitor the way products flow through the system as well as give us detailed information about the products themselves. The second project I am working on is building a labeling system for our products in accordance with California Proposition 65 by building a database with extensive information on each of our products.

My main responsibility at this position was testing materials being used in different phases of construction. These materials included load-bearing soils, concrete, and asphalt. Additionally, I made sure that work was being done according to design specifications.
