About Derek Norby
As a UX/UI Designer at BYU Office of Information Technology, I design websites for different departments across BYU, applying user-centered design principles and techniques. I conduct interviews and research with stakeholders to determine design constraints, create visual representations of data flows and business processes, and work on a program to replace the current BYU Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.I am also a student double-majoring in BYU’s top 10 Industrial Design program and in Mandarin Chinese, expecting to graduate in April 2024. I love problem-solving and exploring ways to improve the products in the world around me. I have traveled extensively, living in multiple places around the world, and the knowledge I have of different views and cultures inspires my designs in exciting ways. I have also gained valuable teaching and security experience, working as a Mandarin Teacher and a Security Officer at the Missionary Training Center.
