Providing Safety Improvement measures between NATS and Military ATC and Flying Units. Provision of airspace expertise, aircrew briefings, and facilitation of airspace management for major military exercises in the UK, including Ex Joint Warrior, Ex Rising Panther, Ex Cobra Warrior, Ex Saxon Warrior, Ex Formidable Shield, Ex Chameleon, Ex Jaded Thunder, and Ex Tartan Flag.

Operational Supervisor duties at Scottish Area Control Centre, subsequently becoming Local Area Supervisor within replacement Prestwick Centre from 2010. Responsble for staffing, Air Traffic Flow Management, operational issues, and running 24/7 ATC operation within specific airspace volumes.

CAA licenced Examiner, providing Local Competency Checking and Examination Boards for ATC candidates.

ATC expertise and user assurance roles within new Scottish Centre project. This involved work with NATS project staff, Lockheed-Martin, INDRA, AENA, and other suppliers and bidders for the provision of ATC equipment to enable the opening of a replacement ATC Centre in 2010. In addition to requirements capture, activities also included simulations, evaluations, and work on transition strategies.

Provision of training to trainee Air Traffic Controllers in live ATC environment.

Secondment to CATO, NATS HQ. Corporate and Policy interface with Government, Regulatory, Aircraft Operator, Aircraft Manufacturers, Air Navigation Service Providers, and Eurocontrol. Provided UK representation to Eurocontrol and ICAO for the introducation of Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) in Oceanic and Domestic UK Airspace, the introduction of Basic Area Navigation (BRNAV) in UK airspace, TCAS developments, the introduction of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) concept, and Area Navigation (RNAV) Arrival procedures.

Head of department providing Procedures, Documentation, and other services to Scottish and Oceanic Area Control Centre. Included liaison with Regulatory Authorities, Airline Operating Companies, adjacent ATC units, and International bodies. The department facilitated the introduction of RVSM, Separation Monitoring Facility (SMF) tools, BRNAV, RNAV Arrival trials, and many other projects in to the legacy ATC system in Atlantic House. I also helped pioneer the introduction of Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA), working with gliding and GA bodies to introduce Class D Airways with access procedures, and airspace sharing with military authorities to allow the use of airspace by civil flights when Danger Areas were not in use.
