A transactional attorney solves problems before they arise. I enjoy learning all aspects of a proposed transaction and determining what potential issues or problems are important to address early in the transaction. Nothing makes me happier than helping a client avoid a future problem by resolving an issue while parties are on good terms, thereby avoiding the time, expense, and stress of litigating the issue once an actual dispute has arisen.I counsel and advise clients on intellectual property law, business law, real estate law, and state and local regulations and ordinances. As a patent attorney and former patent agent, I help clients protect their ideas from unauthorized use by others. I also assist businesses and their owners with legal issues surrounding setting up, operating, and expanding businesses. In addition, I aid those who own or lease commercial real estate. My experience includes representing developers and landowners involved in the recent frac sand boom in western Wisconsin, including real estate purchases, sand leases, and state and local regulations and ordinances.
