Leads a global team of business affairs executives for YouTube Originals. Works with YouTube/Google senior management to develop and execute new business models designed to maximize consumer and brand experience on YouTube. Oversees negotiations of YouTube Original's global content transactions including license and rights acquisitions agreements, as well as writer, actor, director, and producer deals for domestic and internationally produced scripted, non-scripted, and live-event content.

Provides business affairs support in connection with YouTube Originals' domestic and international development slate. Defines agreement structures and negotiates a variety of complex agreements with producers, writers, actors, production companies, studios, and other relevant ecosystem stakeholders. Partners with YouTube’s legal affairs team, and the broader YouTube Originals Team, Partnerships, Marketing, Publicity, Standards and Practices, with respect to business affairs matters. Supports YouTube Product and Engineering leadership to build initiatives and propositions.

Derek Reynolds’ practice is primarily transactional entertainment law, focused on the representation of studios, networks, production companies, writers, and directors in the motion picture, scripted and nonscripted television and digital media industries. Derek also does substantial work in the areas of domestic and international motion picture distribution and entertainment finance. Derek's practice also includes representing action sports athletes, with a focus on negotiating and documenting sponsorship and endorsement agreements.
