The objective of the Highlander Institute is to advance knowledge of blended learning throughout the state of Rhode Island and to work with individual districts to refine their blended learning practices. As a FUSE Fellow, it has been my responsibility to work with district administration to identify their goals for blended learning and to provide services which will help them attain their objectives. In this capacity I have accomplished the following:• Worked with district and school-based leaders in Foster/Glocester and Glocester School Districts to develop a roadmap for blended learning.• Initiated a professional learning community on blended learning practices for Ponaganset High School in Scituate, RI to drive professional growth.• Organized and supervised site visits to model classrooms of blended learning practices.• Run professional development of blended learning tools such as Google Classroom and Flubaroo for West Glocester and Fogerty Elementary Schools.

I was responsible for driving the education of 81 students with a specific focus on the content knowledge of the Middle Ages as well as reading, writing, source analysis and research skills. As a teacher, I have been an active implementer of blended learning strategies and have leveraged the use of the flipped classroom model for many years. I pride myself in using content to drive a skills-based classroom with a specific focus on the reading and analysis of document based questions. Additional accomplishments at Blackstone Valley Prep have included:• Administering after-school enrichment clubs for over 150 students.• Serving as the chair of the 8th grade team and leading weekly team meetings to drive student achievement and staff professional growth.• Leading bi-weekly content team meetings to refine professional practice.• Serving as an instructional coach for my grade and content teams.• Leading multiple professional development sessions on blended learning.• Facilitating a professional learning community on blended learning practices.

Providence Hebrew Day School is a small, private school in Providence, Rhode Island that serves about 200 K-12 students. During my time at PHDS I served primarily as the 5th grade secular studies and middle school social studies teacher. Additionally I was periodically used to teach other middle school and high school classes, including: 6th grade math, 6th grade ELA, 9-10 remedial U.S. history, 9-12 current events, and as a 9-12 ELA interventionist. In addition to these instructional roles, I provided the following services:• Creation of a digital gradebook to collect and manage grades for teachers.• Professional development on the use of technology to assist in classroom data management.
