Involved in the Sphero SPRK Lightning Lab educational app that teaches children principles of programming through application in Sphero’s spheroid robots. Ran test suites on Android and iOS versions of the mobile app, logged bugs in JIRA, wrote new test cases and suites, and gave developers and designers feedback in an agile programming environment. Also learned and employed programmatic testing using Java. Used expertise in mechatronics to help differentiate between software and firmware bugs.

Involved as an engineer with the FEATHERS project which aims to use bimanual motion gaming as at-home therapy for those affected by hemiparesis, specifically stroke and cerebral palsy. Made mechanical and software improvements to the game controller system, helped develop an associated Facebook web application, and performed kinematic analysis on 3D hand position data from the system to quantify motor function of the user. Also technically supported study participants using FEATHERS systems in their homes. Developed a sub study to identify the effects of aging on bimanual motion in the vertical frontal plane, collected data from volunteer participants using the FEATHERS system, and statistically analyzed the data in preparation for a journal paper.

After a two week crash-course in C++ and C#, proceeded to design and implement an extensive software production automation system for the company’s products. Using mainly C#, tied together the entire process into a set of programs that standardized and simplified it. From order entry, to database management, software production, CD burning, labeling and packaging, to customs forms and FedEx shipping, the program suite walked the user easily through the whole process so that anyone in the office could process a client’s order. The FedEx API integration also required certification by FedEx – which it passed – so that the packages could be sent officially and legally. Also created a manual to assist those new to the software production suite.
