Coordinate and review the investigation of serious work health and safety accidents and incidents in facilities with staff, and facilitate the preparation of management reports on these issues. • Carry out the duties of a trained Safety and Well-being Advisor and Fire Safety Advisor as required. • Maintain records/reports for fire safety training, fire and evacuation exercise drills, building fire safety inspections, audits of fire protection systems and equipment. • Supported local networks of appointed Health and Safety Contacts, elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) and Wardens. • Contributed to major, complex work health and safety research and projects. Provided advice and reports to management, both at the Hospital and Health Service and Departmental level, on work health and safety, fire safety, chemical safety and performance issues affecting facilities in the Hospital and Health Service. • Coordinated the implementation of health and safety initiatives, strategies and programs to facilities to meet departmental policy requirements and to improve overall organisational health, safety and well-being to staff and visitors.• Monitor and interpret work health and safety, fire safety, and disseminate this information to relevant Departmental personnel. • Developing safety briefs, safety alerts and compiled risk action management plans and implemented the chemical data base (ChemAlert) for the CHQ HHS. • I coordinated reviewed the Gas storage area, Chemicals and food service trolley placement (Bur-lodge Trolleys) within the hospital precinct. I have personally worked with our Shared Services (Honeywell and Medirest) reviewing all areas of concern utilising legislation and codes of practice for desired positive outcomes.

This role consisted of providing effective and comprehensive fire safety consultancy services to District management, occupational health and safety teams, in line with project priorities. I would report to the Principal OHS Consultant - Fire Safety to coordinate and support Queensland Health Fire Safety system activities across 10 Health Service Districts.Responsibilities included:• Coordinating fire safety program activities across the Districts, preparing and maintaining high quality project documentation throughout the project life-cycle. • Proactively manage the project & maintain the project plan for fire safety objectives in the district. This involved monitoring project deliverables, adjusting the plan as required and reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of both outcomes and process.• Alignment of project priorities with District fire safety objectives to achieve consistency of health and safety strategies, service delivery arrangements, performance outcomes and compliance with ACHS EQuIP Standards.• Evaluating and monitoring health and safety legislation and provide recommendations which impact upon Queensland Health endorsed strategies for achieving fire safety compliance.• Supporting Health Service District training, workshops and presentations to align with Queensland Health endorsed strategies for improving fire safety performance.• Supporting District Fire Safety Coordinators to develop fire and evacuation plans, fire and evacuation training, records maintenance and warden training.• Liaising with stakeholders and clients to maintain effective lines of communication, with the aim of consistently implementing principles of best, through continuous improvement process.

A position of consultation that involved, that staff were trained to be knowledgeable and compliant with mandatory Fire legislation. This included the creation and delivery of individual unit training manuals and instructional displays using Microsoft PowerPoint.Duties included:• Provide feedback and regular updates at meetings with the Principal OH&S Consultant, Fire Safety People and Culture Corporate | Occupational Health and Workplace Safety office. • Work with the Staff Development Officer to arrange training Venue and Dates.• Communicate with the Nurse Unit Managers to ensure that staff receive their mandatory training.• Coordinate unit evacuation trials to ensure training is adequate and response to deficiencies. • Renew Fire evacuation plans, Site Fire Fighting Equipment plans, Site HAZMAT plans, Site Assembly Area Plans. Notable Achievements:• Over 150 staff trained in Fire Warden Procedures.• Implemented Chief Warden Training Program.• Reviewed and updated existing Fire and Evacuation Plans.• Implemented new Fire Evacuation diagrams for all buildings (9) to meet legislative requirements.
