Wildlife Encounters, LLC was re-registered as a single member LLC in the State of NH and with the IRS on April 15th, 2013. Wildlife Encounters is committed to it's customers and delivery of it's trademark services, and a new business plan is in development.

Derek founded this NH Charitable entity, originally called Granite State Zoo on May 4th, 2010. Effective this date, the "non-profit" assumed responsibility for service delivery and operational conduct of his LLC, and Wildlife Encounters, LLC became an asset-holding entity that was sponsoring the new young organization: allowing it to use it's assets, customer database, book of business, and trademark to generate revenue, pay payroll and other operating costs, and continue service delivery while pursuing 501(c)3 status. Derek took a paid position as Executive Director with an initial annual salary of $25k. In December 24th 2010 after much discussion with the Board of Directors, and feeling like the name of the entity did not accurately represent the broad mission and objectives of the charitable entity, the name was changed.The W.I.L.D. Center and Zoological Park of New England exists to connect children and adults with animals and nature while demonstrating and inspiring responsible stewardship of our planet’s global biodiversity.On December 30, 2011 Derek dissolved Wildlife Encounters, LLC, believing that 501(c)3 status was immanent, and ownership of the tangible and intangible assets the non-profit continued to use and maintain transferred to the personal assets and property of him and his wife. The Board of Directors had submitted a draft purchase agreement for the assets to the IRS, expressing their desire to purchase them at a fair price.On March 21st, 2013, still seeking approval of 501(c)3 status by the IRS, Derek & Tamara Small submitted to the Board of Directors a Conditional Letter of Intent to donate the tangible and intangible assets of the former LLC to the non-profit - effectively removing this apparent roadblock to attaining tax-exempt charitable status.In April 9th, 2013 Derek parted ways with the organization he founded and in Dec 2013 the remaining Directors, working with the NH Attorney General's office, opted to close the organization
