The Hotel is part of Millennium & Copthorne PLC and has over 20 hotels in the UK. I covered the above role on a short term casual basis. I worked as part of a small team of 3. Overview of my duties:- Processed hotel payroll including forecasted versus actual costing.- Assisted with the purchase ledger via a stock-in & stock-out system.- Performed daily banking and reconciliation.- Assisted with busy month end schedule and various journal entries.

I managed the accounting functions for both hotels within the IHG group. The hotels employed 60+ staff members in each property and they both had annual turnovers of approx £4 million. I was responsible for 5 team members (3 Gloucester & 2 Cardiff). My time was split equally between both properties. I reported in to a Cluster Financial controller based at Bristol.Overview of my duties:- Provided financial guidance and implementation of Hotel Budget and Key Performance Objectives.- Forecasted sales, wages and costs monthly and for remainder of year.- Prepared and review the reconciliation of the hotel Balance Sheets.- Reviewed monthly actual results against budget and last year and analyzed to recommend improvements.- Evaluated existing internal control measures and introduce best practices.- Managed internal and external audits.- Trained and developed my teams to deliver their full potential.- Calculated accruals and prepayments monthly and processed journals to produce full P&L.- Assisted external stock takers.- Attended and contributed to daily, weekly and monthly meetings.- Authorized all accounts payable documents daily.- Produced various monthly reports for trading reviews with the owners.- Communicated well with Head Office finance team based in Denham.- Reviewed benchmarking results to highlight any ongoing cost/expense issues.- Carried out Controlled Self Audits to ensure that IHG policies and procedures were adhered to.- Covered any roles during holiday or sickness periods.

The Holiday Inn was a single unit site. I reported to a Cluster Financial Controller based in Cardiff in the early years and finally reported to an Area Financial Controller based in Denham who oversaw 26 properties.
