* Lead cross-functional project teams for multiple concurrent development projects.* Obtain feedback from clinicians to develop products.* Interact with sales force to assist with training of products in the field.* Provide design, engineering and analysis support to other engineers and designers in the development and maintenance of spine implants and instruments.* Apply sound engineering problem-solving techniques to product development and maintenance tasks including design, analysis, material selection, inspection requirements and manufacturing process requirements.* Prepare and submit written and oral communications that describe product design concepts, attributes and performance. Areas of involvement include customer and sales support, regulatory submissions, design history files, device evaluation and testing, manufacturing or supplier support, quality control, packaging, operating room support, device complaint evaluation, patent disclosures and instrument refurbishment.* Define and execute product testing and validation protocols.* Create and approve FDA and QS compliant design control documentation (Class I and II) including supporting technical reports, verification, validation, and risk analyses * Review engineering designs for feasibility and accuracy.* Approve engineering drawings and specifications.* Procure and evaluate prototypes.* Identify, analyze and recommend new technologies or materials for specific product applications.* Assist in patent application preparation, patent review and patent analysis.* Generate document change requests including engineering justification and write engineering rationale for 510(k) non-filing justifications (letters to file).

* Design, model and create technical drawings for implants and instrument systems from surgeon input using Solidworks CAD software and for specialty instruments to meet surgeon needs.* Create FDA and QS compliant design control documentation (Class I and II) including supporting technical reports, verification, validation, and risk analyses.* Finite element analysis for design optimization.* Generate engineering change orders including engineering justification and write engineering rationale for 510(k) non-filing justifications (letters to file).* Perform initial IP research on new products.* Process controlled documents into document vault (document control).* Communicate with test facilities to generate test protocols and reports for design verification.* Interface with European Design center for global product design and product harmonization.* Collaborate with Quality Control and Operations on CAPA and Complaints; to generate incoming inspection documentation and inspection equipment and communicate with manufacturing vendors for design manufacturability, quoting and delivery schedule.* Interface with Sales, Distributors and Designing Surgeons on new product designs and concepts.
