Mr. Thornton has been involved in the Military, Law Enforcement, and the Major Event Security Industry for the last 20 years. Derek served honorably as a United States Marine and a United States Army Soldier. Derek’s experience includes business owner Thornton & Thornton Global Protection Services, LLC, currently a Tiffany & Company Branch Security Agent, and held the position of Lieutenant (Security Supervisor) for American Honda, for over 2 years managing a 24/7 security and safety staff, CCTV's, workplace violence awareness, workers compensation, loss prevention, background/DMV checks, risk assessment, budget, hiring, terminations, and many other duties. Derek is also a retired 13-year Professional Mixed Martial Artist competing in 15 professional competitions nationally and internationally attaining one Middle Weight World Championship.Derek has expert knowledge of Threat Assessment, Executive Protection, Residential andCorporate security. He excels at Advance Work and building professional relationships withFederal and Local Law Enforcement. Derek worked professionally for several othercompanies, namely, West Coast Entertainment, andRodbat International. Derek worked outside the United States in such locations as Japan,Australia, Brasil, Thailand, Spain, Madrid, Barcelona and New Zealand.Mr. Thornton actively participates in ASIS International activities and training's, and currently working on completing his PSP certification. Derek completed a 53 day 400-hour Certification for Protective Security in courses including; High Threat Protection, Executive/Corporate and CelebrityProtection, High-Risk Medic Certification, Tactical Combat Casualty Caretaker, Protective Security Driving Certification, Tactical Surveillance, and Counter Surveillance, in 2018. Derek is currently certified in the A.L.I.C.E Active Shooter/Assailant training for Schools, Healthcare Facilities,Places of Worship, and Businesses. Derek is also a certified Defensive Tactics and Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructor, and is an Active Associate member of the Oregon Organized Retail Crime Association, and an Active Associate member Jewelers Security Alliance.
