Gatwick duty manager responsible for all Customs matters at Gatwick Airport. This included allocation of resources to risk, primary responsibility for designating information and intelligence and processing of arrested persons.

Management of the Gatwick Profiling team. Responsibilty for ensuring high quality targets were provided to front line staff both locally and nationally.

• Responsible for co-ordinating risk based activity including local staff deployments, brigading in of additional staff, liaison with Intelligence and Investigation teams, regional risk managers and local senior managers.• Development of new planning processes, operational guidance and risk assessments as well as a useable feedback system which resulted in more co-ordinated and intelligence led operational activity.• Chairing the regular meetings of the Gatwick multi agency group to produce joint operations with Police, Special Branch and HM Immigration.

Provision of intelligence to operational and investigation teams by undertaking research on targets, analysing and evaluating information in order to produce risk assessments and actionable intelligence.

• Interception and control of passengers. Detection and processing of offences through to preparation of casework and presentation in court.• Acting as Custody officer to ensure arrested persons are dealt with in accordance with Police and Criminal Evidence Act guidelines.

London Airports

To produce displays at exhibitions and other events to demonstrate Customs work and increase public awareness. Examples are the Lambeth and Surrey country shows and the South of England Show. Organised the only appearance of HM Customs & Excise at the Royal Tournament, Earl’s Court in 1993.
