Worked as a consultant to Imperial Oil on the Kearl suite of Projects. Started on the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of the Kearl Initial Development (KID) Project through to the Kearl Expansion Project (KEP) and tailings and Deoxygenation Projects (KFTT and KDeOx). Worked through FEED, detailed design and construction/execution phases through to start-up. Responsible for overseeing and approving the loss prevention design led by AMEC Foster Wheeler EPC with direct responsibility for risk management duties, including facilitation of qualitative risk assessments, 'What-if' and HAZID studies including oversight of the Project risk register ensuring that the IOL Risk Work processes were being adhered to. Loss Prevention design aspects included but were not limited to the following:• Firewater systems, deluge, sprinkler , firewater monitors, • Fire and gas detection layout• passive fire protection• blast overpressure analysis• gas dispersion analysis• facility layout

Main responsibilities include the development of risk analysis reports as part of Safety Case development for a range of UK, Norwegian and International companies. Reports include Escape, Evacuation and Refuge Analysis, Marine and Mechanical Hazard Analysis, Vulnerability Studies. Implementing both quantitative and qualitative risk assessment techniques.

Senior Loss Prevention and Risk Specialist. Working through ExxonMobil Development's (EMDC) Loss Prevention and Risk group directly for Imperial Oil on the Mackenzie Gas and Taglu projects. Responsible for all aspects of loss prevention and risk management. This included the development of the project loss prevention philosophy to be implemented in the detailed design phase including active and manual fire protection systems, fire and gas detection, access and egress, passive fire protection and explosion protection. Development of Project risk management plan and input to risk sections of project execution plan. Also responsible for facilitation of HAZOP’s and all qualitative risk assessments using the EMDC risk matrix.
