I lead a team that deliver change for Barclays Corporate and Small Business Banking. This is a fast changing area where we seek to integrate Barclays technologies with the best of FinTech in a cost effective, secure and timely way. My team is growing and covers both onshore and offshore resources blended with specialist subject matter experts to implement business strategy and drive growth.

Leading Solutions Architecture for the Corporate portfolio as well as Deputy to Head of Solutions Architecture I have helped to grow and mature the Solutions Architecture capability. I continue to lead PSD2 work as well as formulate Medium Term Plans for the department, interviewed candidates and mentored members of the team.

Working within a financially regulated area for the PSD2 programme has provided new insights on the use of security and controls within digital ecommerce. I have been responsible for the Architectural Vision, design, implementation and integration of both internal and vendor systems supporting the multi-factor authentication of payments where performance and resilience were critical as well as the ability to scale to support over 850,000 card holders. As Deputy to Head of Solutions Architecture I have helped to formulate Medium Term Plans for the department, covered paternity leave, interviewed candidates and mentored members of the team. In 2020 I won a CEO Award for Service Excellence and the Barclays Payments Issuing Team Award.

The FedEx integration program has successfully delivered the integration of core systems within Air Operations, Ground Operations, Sortation Systems as well as PickUp and Delivery. Working with a multi-million pound budget, many legacy systems and a tight-timescale across teams worldwide has been both challenging and rewarding.

I worked within the Global IT team architecting and delivering solutions for the business to help achieve the Target Application Landscape. I was responsible for the assignment of work within the UK team. As a team we successfully delivered a €60million upgrade to document and parcel sorting facilities in Belgium using an Agile approach. Prior to this I reviewed and advised on supplier tenders for the development of a global customs system. I have had responsibility for mobile device technical strategy and produced medium-term strategic road maps.

I have overseen the prototyping to deployment of mobile applications for both Warehouse Operators and the Delivery Drivers within the operations environment. I worked with offshore resources in Mauritius who I trained, assisted and mentored. This involved near real-time Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) patterns which allows future business benefit from re-use of the original work. These systems supported 6 Languages and were installed on almost 25000 devices with 120 platform-country variations deployed to more than 40 countries.During this time TNT Express ICS achieved ISO 9001 accreditation which involved training to understand the quality requirements and implementation of standard processes using the Rational Unified Process (RUP).

Ideal Shopping Direct is a Television Shopping (Ideal Shopping TV Channel) business with associated Web presence. Initially I provided a Technical Review of the IT Systems, Infrastructure and Architecture. This delivered an Architecture Map allowing a high level overview of the systems integration. After analysis and design I wrote a mobile application for warehousing which extended the Mobile Application Block Patterns to WindowsCE using web services to update SQLServer. I updated their ASP.Net website to use Ajax enhanced Telerik controls.

Volkswagen Financial Services and Volkswagen Bank provide financial services to Volkswagen Group (Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen, and Europcar). I worked in both retail finance and corporate finance sectors. It required a flexible and collaborative approach working with the business from end user through to board level. Reporting to Head of IT Applications, I performed an audit of mid-range systems within the UK. Following from this I re-wrote and successfully implemented three systems. Reporting to Head of IT Operations, I managed the strategic relocation and upgrade of mid-range systems from the UK to Germany where they were hosted on Oracle Regattas.

Volvo Contracts is the financial services arm of Volvo Truck. I was brought in as technical lead for the Stockplan system to redesign it and improve stability while optimising its performance. Following successful implementation I was asked to create a financial sales quotation application. This was used by dealer sales staff on palm-tops and also back at head office. This application suite was fully internationalised with resource files and a separate currency conversion module that handled the triangulation requirements of the Euro. This system was successfully deployed to over 500 users in 8 countries.I then joined the Global Contracts team, a joint venture between Europe and United States for a global enterprise-wide multi-tier system. I conducted technical interviews on Volvo’s behalf to ensure the calibre of consultants recruited

During the creation of Andersen Consulting’s Application Management Standards, I provided a technical review on the practicality of the standards for PC application development, testing and implementation.

I managed and assisted in developing several successful projects for a range of departments within the Sears group including Buying & Merchandising, Human Resources, Property Insurance and Finance.
