With the inception of Bill 8 in 2012 that all utility owners become a part of Ontario One Call, the city of Guelph decided to keep their locating services in house. i was tasked with building this department from the ground up. This involved having city mapping available to the DPT'S in the field, which required getting everyone electronic devices and internet access in the field. we also transferred from paper sketching to electronic sketching. Originally all work was manually dispatched everyday, then moved into the world of auto dispatching with the city distributed into different sections.
