Senior Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer
For the past few years, I have been heavily involved in the transition to digital engineering practices. I'm the scrum master and senior developer of the team that has planned and implemented the backbone of L3Harris's future digital engineering infrastructure, making it possible to provide process automation and full-spectrum traceability across all phases of program execution, from inception to retirement, across all engineering disciplines, irrespective of the engineering tools involved.
Adjunct Faculty
I am the instructor of record for Software Engineering II, a terminal elective where undergraduates learn the ropes of Agile development via contribution to an open source project that I founded specifically for teaching purposes. I place special emphasis on effective technical communication and teamwork. A core goal is to help students work out the "I've never done this before" jitters prior to joining industry.I also teach an intermediate Python course, with a special focus on language internals and preparing for professional development roles using Python. Students examine and learn to apply advanced concepts, including all types of generator objects, custom metaclasses, and Python's "hidden" type system. Students are engaged in an evolving project, moving from a simple script to full-blown Python package project within the course of the semester. Python standards and conventions are emphasized throughout, and supporting PEPs and tools (e.g., pylint, pytest, black, etc.) are presented/used.
Research Assistant
As part of the 2018 IRES Award (see Awards section), I worked as a Research Assistant at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg Sweden for three months. My work (file system energy efficiency on Android devices) was in support of another Florida State University's student's PhD work. I created an open-source tool, named Marvin, in furtherance of this effort. This tool is on my Github, but I am not at liberty to release it until after the dissertation defense of my colleague (estimated as 2019), as the tool contains some proprietary information.
