Primarily responsible for managing the design team; providing direction and feedback based on NCARB Brand Guidelines and project/campaign goals; ensuring the team meets production deadlines and delivery dates; working with the team to develop and evolve aesthetics for major Council projects and initiatives; and developing and implementing digital, print, and environmental communication assets for the Council, such as infographics, animation assets, printed brand collateral, event signage, etc. This individual will ensure that all visual solutions are aligned with the holistic design strategy, brand guidelines, and consistent across various communications.

Develop visual communication designs, from concept sketching through multi-platform visual design strategies (systems approach to visual design).Provide visual design and creative experiential thinking across a variety of projects.

Independently designs, produces and executes Newseum print and digital collateral, including brochures, visitor guides, one-sheets, special-event invitations, programs, promotional displays, and advertising. Creates detailed, innovative products to display Newseum messages for special events, exhibits, fundraising, education, and marketing to promote the museum experience and other business units, in a fast-past environment.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Newseum departments, news media, vendors, and other community and governmental entities. Works collaboratively on strategy teams to identify available resources, timeframes, priorities, and informational content. Demonstrates flexibility and strong project management skills to execute multiple projects simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.• Completed high-profile marketing, advertisements and signage for Newseum exhibits and events including Nationals at 10, CNN & Politics, Inside the FBI, Pulitzer at 100, Reporting Vietnam, and Newseum Nights.• Serves as gatekeeper for brand design parameters, style guidelines, visual standards, and a commitment to diversity.

Support UCG staff in completing updates and revisions to existing files and creating artwork for design, advertising, and other projects. Provide illustrative graphics support by developing professional, compliant, publication-ready graphics for direct mailers, sales documents, order forms, weekly newsletters, manuals, book layout, marketing collateral, and internal communications materials. Conceptualize and develop complex graphics and illustrations that clearly deliver content and messages, while adhering to specific layout, budget, and technical requirements. Ensure the quality and accuracy of files that are created and sent to print publications or vendors. Provide management and the technical execution of website content creation and updates, including file management and transfer.Translate creative briefs, wireframes, and/or other documentation into final products throughout the approval process. Works closely with content developers and technical managers to ensure look and feel consistency, as well as apply creative technique for maximum visibility.

Designed Homecoming marking materials that include branding, flyers and poster materials. Created the cover for the Administrative Policy Manual and program booklets for Pageant events. Recently designed the Department of Student Activities branding and marketing materials as well, including retractable banners, newsletters logos and flyers.

Provided signage, brochures and other print media to keep the student body informed of events happening in the library. Operating and supervising Virginia State University’s library computer lab equipment and facilities, keeping records of equipment and lab supplies, and maintaining the security of the lab. Assist students in the lab by demonstrating the proper use of the equipment and how to use the hardware and software for educational usage. Also provide assistance for any system or technical problems such a clearing paper jams in printers and copiers, refilling ink toners and supplying paper. Provide backup of software and perform equipment repairs or arrange for repairs to be completed.

Directly responsible for the creation and instruction of graphic design curriculum, including research, coursework, lecture, assignments, projects, and evaluation. Demonstrated a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the history, social responsibility, clientele influence, and cultural impact of graphic design principles as well as vision, layout, and production of creative materials.
