As a Research Engineer at Southwest Research Institute, I'm currently working in the following roles:Role: Lab Test System Design/Software Lead* Currently designing and implementing a lab test system featuring a COTS OpenVPX SBC running a Yocto Arch Linux OS and a Windows PC used for bench testing and system integration testing.* The PC communicates with the SBC via Ethernet, commanding the SBC to access and manipulate CCAs developed in-house through FPGA memory mapped PCIe BARs. * PyQT GUI on the PC allows for user input of test parameters and execution of custom scripts.Role: Embedded RTOS Redesign Developer* Currently working to redesign a legacy VME system utilizing VxWorks RTOS written in C and Fortran with real-time tasks as fast as 250 microseconds. * Redesigned system will be an OpenVPX system using Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS written in C and C++. * Leading startup architecture code redesign and implementation on new target hardware.* Performing static/dynamic analysis and unit testing using LDRA. Using GitLab for source control.

During my time as an Engineer at Southwest Research Institute, I worked in the following roles:Role: Embedded Ubuntu System/Software Redesign Lead* Experience in redesigning legacy systems, including porting code from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 20.04, modifying code to work with new DAQ and video cards, and creating custom Ubuntu images. * Participated in on-site selloff testing at customer's depot location.Role: OpenVPX System Architect/Cable Design Engineering Lead* Selected OpenVPX COTS CCAs and motherboard to replace legacy VME system functionality, determined the location/connectivity of all new system components, led cable design team, and facilitated outsourced chassis design. * Created requirements, interfacing, bench testing, integration testing, and field testing specifications.* Led system design discussions during Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews with the customer.Role: Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)/Cable Redesign Engineer* Experience in redesigning CCAs, including MIL-STD-1553 to proprietary parallel interface converter and motherboard/associated cables. * Assisted in full design cycle, including requirement definition, hardware/firmware design, and testing. * Contributed to the design of lab test equipment and firmware/software (VHDL/C) to meet customer ENV/EMI/EMC requirements.
