As a Lead Network Engineer, I am expected to create my own projects much of the time. If I see a problem, I will be stomping on it. If I see something I could make better, I spin up resources to get it done. I wear many hats in this role including vulnerability management, network automation, technical architecture, cloud networking, intrusion detection and security for both cloud and on-prem solutions, working with folks like ICANN on new gTLD and other security things -- this is only the first page of my list.

Assigned to a special task force to tackle vulnerability remediation which is highly visible to the board. Responsible for remediation of global network vulnerabilities and automation of global network upgrades.

Senior engineer and architect supporting our global network. VPN design, Azure networking design, network tools on Linux and Windows platforms, and much more. Actively participate with oncall rotation which requires me to troubleshoot and protect our global network. I have worked on integrations, acquisitions and new builds in the US and abroad, turning up data centers to support the efforts. Other recent experiences have included security (IDS) in Azure, Cloud to on-prem connectivity, Cloud security, BGP routing and even writing some code. I have automated tasks in Azure using PowerShell, Python and bash CLI scripting. I've written automation for network tasks using Python and Perl. Some involvement with load balancing and traffic management, and I do have some deep experience here from past lives. Perform some unix/linux sysadmin types of tasks, certainly not afraid of a unix host. What I bring to the table is that I deeply understand application behavior, and because of my understanding of application synergy I am able to make appropriate decisions at the architectural level to support such applications.

We created an application for predictive analytics on load balanced applications. I brought lots of fun, learning, experience and startup knowledge.As an owner, I was required to build specifications for our purpose-built appliances. Memory, compute, storage, networking, rack footprint, etc.I completely modeled our application in Perl, then worked with our Java developer to implement it in a more modern language. I learned what pair programming was all about.I worked with Cassandra, implementing clusters to support data storage for our application. I also "ran the lab", in that I did kickstart builds, tested and implemented new versions of various software or OS, all the networking for the lab including remote VPN access, and so many other things including VMWare ESX and Citrix Xenserver. I deployed a virtual version of our purpose-built appliance into AWS including a Cassandra cluster.I was the A to Z for the company when it came to technology/hardware/architecture.
