Using my previous experience of developing CPE xDSL type products for ADC, I successfully led the cost reduction of the GPON ONT's to a 40% cost reduction YoY. 2008 revenues of $200M. Cost Reductions achieved via:Reducing the number of ONT variants from 27 to 3 basic hardware platforms.Specified and qualified a new System-on-Chip which supported above strategy.Provided greater integration and expanded the role of the Shanghai development group.Provided technical and strategic input for vendor contract negotiations for both software and hardware components.Qualified multiple component vendors for Optics, FLASH and DDR providing a very competitive component cost environment.

To reduce R&D spend on legacy support, established low-cost development teams in PRC and Taiwan to sustain legacy products freeing the Raleigh based engineering team to develop new products. Legacy engineering budget reduced by 40%. Leadership role in establishing an "outsource" manufacturing relationship in Taiwan and PRC that reduced product cost by 15-20% in 24 months. Leadership and technical contribution in the development of:New Access Node supporting IP-based data services and Wireless backhaul.Network Processor based CPE equipment supporting multiple GIGE over bonded G.shdsl with RIP, RIP2, OSPF, Firewall and other L2/L3 Services.

Accelerated Networks was a leading startup in the development of ATM based next generation networks for deployment in CLEC and ILEC networks. Achieved a very successful IPO. Successfully expanded an engineering team in Dallas to support the development of the Integrated Access Devices (IAD's). Increased group to 9 Software, 5 Hardware, 3 System Test, 2 Technicians from a total of 3 original staff.Directly architected and designed an original solution to provide a 4 port ISDN IAD in 8 weeks for a successful Lab Trial with Siemens. Expanded leadership role of Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP) with 34 staff:Achieved stabilization of original platform.Leadership of expanded System Test Lab and Group to provide higher quality releases. Field problems reduced by 20% YOY. Very successful PlugFests for Interoperability.Led development of the system design for a new MSAP supporting TR303, TR008, V5.1 and V5.2 Voice and Data Services.

Led the development of a completely new Broadband DLC supporting Voice and Data Services over xDSL culminating in a $40M contract with Telia, Sweden.Established development groups in Taiwan and Israel to provide HW and SW resources. Israeli team provided V5.1 and V5.2 SW. Group peaked at 96 development staff in Texas, Taiwan and Israel. Developing components of a Fiber-based PON system for Project OPAL for Deutsche Bundespost Telekom for the rehabilitation of the former East German Access Network.
