• Develop, test, and produce complex statistical analysis of data collected the LHC totaling in the amount of approximately 1.7 billion events in order to test a specific scientific hypothesis about elementary particles • Lead author for 2 year analysis project at CMS testing resulting in new publication highlighting machine learning techniques and statistical estimation methods which are now being used by other research groups • Solve complicated statistical problems arising from development of new machine learning based techniques allowing greater sensitivity for testing our hypothesis • Test and apply physics and data driven techniques to correct simulation models • Present regular updates to senior working group leadership to facilitate decision making about the direction of our analysis resulting in faster iteration times and better communication of new techniques to other working groups • Present analysis in invited plenary conference talk given at bi-annual CMS Week conference for our entire collaboration of 5500 active members • Develop, test and implement new Python code that improved analytic speed up to 60 times; and present findings to senior collaboration leadership • Teach researchers how to use new software which substantially improved analysis speed of other working groups • Provide regular oral presentations detailing recommendations based on physics goals for improving c++ code that takes in data from an experimental device and does preliminary data processing and data analysis. • Analyze simulations in order to identify variables to optimize data collecting and present findings • Facilitate exchange of technical information while serving as liaison between working groups responsible for different parts of code that simulates expectations about the data collected. • Instructing and evaluating college students in the area of university level physics as well as lesson preparation
