Thunder is a blockchain platform that enables developers to build decentralized applications (dapps) that have unprecedented performance and cost-efficiency.My work involved:- Solution engineering (working with organizations to ship dapps on Thunder)- Product management (ensuring that Thunder is meeting developers' needs)- Technological evangelism (writing & speaking about Thunder)- Ecosystem development (working with partners to integrate Thunder with their projects)

I was the second hire at Pachyderm, a YC startup, and played an instrumental role in bringing the product to the market. Along with the team, I designed and built the two core components of Pachyderm: a distributed file system (PFS) and a data pipeline system (PPS).

Gravitational is an early­-stage YC startup that's working on a platform that will allow a software vendor to run and manage their software on the infrastructure of their customer's choice, as opposed to traditional SaaS where the software runs in the vendor's data center. I worked on the part of the platform that handles the secure and timely distribution of software packages.

Worked on three projects: 1) a system that streams events from a running Mesos cluster into an analytics engine and generates insights; 2) a tool for large-­scale cluster simulation that can be used for testing Mesos applications without having to use a real, costly data center; 3) a tool for injecting (simulated) faults into a cluster and testing if an application performs correctly in the face of faults like network partition, network congestion, hardware failures, etc.

Worked with Armon to design and build a new feature (network tomography; see https://www.consul.io/docs/internals/coordinates.html) for Consul, a popular tool for service discovery, monitoring and configuration. https://consul.io

Worked on HyperDex, a distributed key-value store akin to Cassandra but has additional features (e.g. search API, strong consistency, transactions) and better performance.

Worked on a data store that's meant to scale to petabytes. Specifically, I 1) developed a tool for snapshotting files, 2) found ways to reduce entropy in the system, and 3) implemented a mechanism for intelligently distributing workload among servers, resulting in a ~30% reduction in read latency.

Worked on the Go binding for etcd, a distributed key-value store.

Built a Cassandra-based alternative API backend for Glance, a component of OpenStack. Integrated Zipkin, a distributed tracing system, into our test suite. Used Python, Cassandra, Pycassa, OpenStack, Zipkin, etc.The internship was part of the KPCB Engineering Fellows program.

Participated in the annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC). My team won the sixth or seventh place in the Greater New York region.

Added geospatial indexing to the backend, using a combination of Node, Express, Mongoose, and MongoDB. Also built the frontend for our internal analytics dashboard using Backbone.js and jQuery.

Was the lead developer of a small team of four. Built a property management system for landlords to manage their properties and communicate with lessees. Used Python, Django, MySQL, etc.

Worked with the Systems Administrator to build and maintain cloud-based Linux servers.

Collected and refurbished computers, which were donated to community centers, schools, and other organizations.
