Our main focus is to test for lead and asbestos in various samples from buildings collected throughout NYC.-Lead testing includes air samples, total suspended particulate matter (TSP) samples, paint, soils and wipes. All of these are analyzed by either flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) or inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS).-Asbestos testing includes bulk, vermiculite and air samples. These are analyzed by polarized light microscopy (PLM) and phase contrast microscopy (PCM). Transmission electron microscopy is utilized here if necessary.

The current density is then tested over extended periods of time, which will determine the stability of the polymer as it is exposed to sunlight.
