Sr. Relay Technician
CurrentESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS•Perform testing and maintenance activities of ITC's transmission equipment and associated devices using industry standard processes, procedures and test equipment, such as Doble test set, Vanguard, Megger and other electrical test equipment, Power transformers, breakers, motor operated switches, metering devices, digital fault recorders, tuning units, CCVT's, wave traps, CT’s, PT’s, RTU’s, and battery chargers. •Accurately understand and troubleshoot ITC's transmission relaying schemes, associated relays, equipment, and auxiliaries, including, but not limited to electro-mechanical, electronic, and microprocessor based relays. •Provide assistance in root cause analysis of events and/or mis-operations of relays and associated equipment. •Effectively plan and organize all assigned work, including new projects, upgrades, or replacements in such a manner as to obtain the most efficient use of available manpower and equipment, and provide maximum system performance and reliability to ITC's customers. •Accurately understand accepted commissioning procedures associated with equipment found in substations. •Develop and correct “as built” drawings necessary for equipment and circuit modifications. Support and update substation drawings and maintain substation drawings to accurately reflect the conditions of the station. •Maintain accurate documentation of relay test forms, and update relay database as required per NERC evidentiary requirements. •Through the General Foreman, assist in the training and supervision of assigned personnel, emphasizing safe work practices, sound engineering judgment, and quality workmanship in accordance with established operational procedures, manufacturer recommendation, and prudent utility practices. •Assist with initial and requalification training for new qualified hires of various training programs, as directed.
