Working at GRAYBOX has enabled me to grow & broaden my skill-set over the last few years. Starting out I was already an experienced FullStack developer used to working in multiple languages, frameworks & systems but had primarily focused on WordPress development. Since coming to GRAYBOX I’ve had the opportunity to work on a multitude of projects using different technology stacks & a variety of CMSs such as Drupal, ExpressionEngine, Webflow, Shopify, Craft & WordPress. During my tenure I was responsible for writing Estimates & Solution Architecture for a variety of projects. Used GIT & Deployment services to commit code & update servers. Worked closely with clients through guided training sessions & ongoing communication during & after projects. Managed a team of 3 developers on several projects as part of the core Sites/CMS group & acted as lead Technical Architect & developer on dozens of projects. Worked closely with & managed several contractors while also managing work for myself & the CMS team through JIRA. Assigned & assisted team members with tickets & tasks, conducted code reviews through Pull Requests, set up development environments for new projects & client site retainers. Worked closely with the QA team to test & work through bugs. Participated in project strategy meetings & client check-ins over the course of each project.

During my time at Gravitate I worked with over a dozen designers & developers on a multitude of projects, typically several at a time. I was the Lead Developer on a majority of projects & responsible for overseeing others code contributions, handling BackEnd architecture & integration down to final deployments & product launches. My work primarily as a BackEnd developer included integrating custom functionality into both the user-facing side as well as within the admin panel using WordPress as a base & customizing it to fit each clients needs by modifying themes to include custom fields & displaying them within customized templates & widgets, creating custom post types for easier content management & functionality like filtering content via custom taxonomies & interfaces. Created several custom WordPress plugins that performed data importing from external databases & CRMs such as Pardot, SalesForce, BeDynamic, SimpleView, Yahoo & others. Worked on FrontEnd builds using Foundation, jQuery, Sass & other frameworks create advanced interfaces & flexible content blocks.

At ITX I worked within a team of FrontEnd & BackEnd developers to create, manage & maintain a custom CMS platform by contributing to the code base & creating custom PHP modules. I was also in charge of creating & maintaining the FrontEnd code for dozens of templates integrated into the CMS. I helped to define coding standards for the system with the rest of the team & created mobile specific templates. I worked on multiple other projects that used WordPress & other 3rd-party platforms. Later on I shifted to working with the DotNetNuke platform primarily on the FrontEnd while still providing legacy support for the PHP applications created previously by our team. During the last couple of years I worked within a specially assembled group of developers & designers within the company to share information collaborate on Responsive Web Development to create company-wide standards & practices.

I created a fully customized PHP/MySQL based CMS system from scratch for a project to allow the client to manage hundreds of floor plans & options for his custom manufactured homes business. Using Object Oriented PHP programming techniques along with best MVC practices to create a fully modular system that could easily be added to or have modules removed. Some of the functionality included a user/group authentication & profiling module to allow & restrict access to specific modules or areas based on user levels & group permissions, front-end & back-end output of the database rows with pagination functionality to control the amount of listings viewed at one time, image & file uploading, adding, editing & removing entries in the admin panel, etc.

Worked with Red Fern Creative on multiple projects involving custom & 3rd-party PHP CMS platforms & applications including Wordpress. Creating custom PHP forms including an Order Wizard to allow vendors & merchants to reserve spots at an outdoor marketplace. I've also assisted with Wordpress plugin customization & troubleshooting. Most recently I used the Wordpress Rewrite API to create some custom page redirects to remove variables from URLs.

I Started with Alesco Marketing in 2005, (previously Doug Williams & Associates) working on the link building & SEO team. I eventually worked my way into FrontEnd coding & later on PHP programming. During my time with Alesco I worked with several designers & programmers on dozens of projects consisting of static HTML sites to custom in-house applications & other 3rd-party platforms including PHPList, Zencart, Joomla, WordPress. This work included skinning CMSs to create new themes based off of design mockups, locating, installing & managing 3rd-party plugins to modifying & troubleshooting pre-existing installations.
