Derek Johnstone is a Canadian trade unionist. He advocates for food workers to defend and advance labour rights. Derek currently serves as Special Assistant to the National President at United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW Canada), one of the country's largest private sector unions with over 255,000 members.In his role, he supports the national president in implementing the union's strategic vision, policies, and campaigns, as well as representing the union in various media, political, and public platforms. He also oversees the administration of the National Defence Fund, a nine figure stike and lockout fund that provides financial assistance and solidarity to members.
