Derek leads Ricoh 3D for Healthcare’s Clinical Applications and Point-of-Care Consulting teams to commercialize Ricoh's medical modeling solutions for surgical planning and personalized device manufacturing. Derek is passionate about accelerating adoption of impactful technologies that restore health and extend life. Prior to his role with Ricoh, he worked in 3D bioprinting, supplying primary cells (Essent Biologics) and equipment (Advanced Solutions) to researchers. Before Advanced Solutions, Derek led global sales at Worrell where he consulted to healthcare companies deploying 3D printing for design, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices. While at Worrell, he taught night classes as an Adjunct Professor of 3D Printing at his alma mater - the University of Minnesota. He has also consulted to VC firms investing in early-stage biotechnology in the United States, Europe, Israel, and China.Derek earned his B.S. in Entrepreneurial Management & Marketing from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and holds certificates in Tissue Engineering (Rice University), Cardiac Physiology & Anatomy (UMN), and Design for Additive Manufacturing (GE Additive).
