The Irish Times is Ireland's leading independent and trusted source of news and information. I headed up the Technology and E-Commerce/Subscriptions sales functions. Additionally I was Company Secretary and held organisational responsibility for Innovation, Risk Management, and Facilities.During my tenure, The Irish Times won the inaugural Digital Innovation/Excellence Award from Newsbrands Ireland in 2016, and won again in 2017.

Origin Enterprises Plc is a leader in the agri manufacturing and services sector in Europe, with over 1800 employees and group revenues of €1.5Bn in 2015. Origin was established from a number of pre-existing Agri, FMCG and Manufacturing businesses. I joined in 2007, as the first CIO. I developed the IT function into a group-wide shared service. I established the program, to select, implement and support a new group-wide ERP and Business Intelligence application set. This was implemented on time and budget across 11 UK & Ireland group companies achieving annual operating cost savings and a reduction in working capital. This program won the “Excellence in ICT Award” from the UK Manufacturer magazine in 2012. I successfully led IT due diligence across 9 acquisitions, followed by the completion of the subsequent integration projects which varied from loose integration to full assimilation depending on the business drivers. I led the development and implementation of Origin’s digital strategy including the rollout of digital applications used in-field by Origins crop advisors. I was General Manager of a 30 person customer facing business unit (Decision Support Services – DSS) in the UK. DSS brought to market new digitally enabled services and tools for our farming customers. I brought forward a concept to develop Origin's capability in data science and analytics, which led to a "Data Labs” partnership with University College Dublin.As a result of my work in Origin I was shortlisted for the “EMEA Business Visionary Award” by Microsoft in 2014.

Version 1 is a leading IT services business in the UK and Ireland. My role was to establish a new strategic direction and portfolio for Version 1’s Managed Services function, including re-positioning the organisation in the marketplace so it could bid for, and deliver, major IT outsourcing contracts. I led key outsourcing/managed services bids, and sales engagements. I led the expansion into new industry sectors and established new key partnerships with Dell, Microsoft and Accenture.

Siemens Business Services (SBS) was a division of Siemens AG that provided IT services, including IT and business process outsourcing, training, software development, infrastructure maintenance/support, and project implementations globally. I joined as a Line of Business Head and I was promoted to Country Manager of the Irish division in August 2000, and then to Managing Director in April 2001. I led the strategy to carve-out SBS into its own legal entity and established from a zero base its own Finance, Marketing, Contracts and HR functions. In my time in SBS I led its turnaround from a loss making business into a position of sustained profitability, including topline growth of over 500%. Headcount grew from 56 to 525 people as we became one of the leading organisations in the Irish IT services marketplace - focussing heavily on leading, developing and empowering people to drive success. I led two internal acquisitions to establish two new service lines, specifically; o Rich Internet Applications, via the assimilation of the BBC’s Emerging Platforms division in Belfasto Outsourced IT Service Desk and Customer Service, via the assimilation of the Siemens Customer Interaction Centre in Cork During my time, SBS won sizeable new-name business contracts from blue chip organisations. SBS successfully led the development of the Animal Health Computer System for the Department of Agriculture & Food which won a "Public Service Excellence Award" in 2006. The project was identified by the Comptroller & Auditor General as a major e-government success.I was also a member of the Executive Management Board of Siemens Business Services GB&I and Siemens Ireland Senior Management Team. SBS Ireland won the Siemens Award for Highest Customer Satisfaction in 2006.

KPMG Consulting (now BearingPoint) was the business and IT consulting division of KPMG, the global business advisory firm.I was asked by the firm to initiate a new business startup, focussed on the PeopleSoft ERP and HR application software suite. I negotiated and signed a globally unique "Preferred Partnership" with PeopleSoft. I managed the partnership with PeopleSoft including joint activities relating to strategy, marketing, lead generation, proposals, prospect qualification, support and customer care. Starting from a zero base, I led the growth of the new business to €9M consulting revenue in 2 years, winning 13 new customers and establishing the sales and delivery team. A major success was the negotiation and closure of a contract for the supply and implementation of a Human Resource Management System to The Irish Civil Service.

I was a Senior Consultant, specialising in the project management and implementation of Supply Chain & ERP projects for a variety of manufacturing (both process and discrete) and distribution clients. I worked on projects in Ireland, Austria and The Netherlands. I also managed the Vendor Solutions support team, who provided 2nd line support to our clients.I also completed IT consulting project assignments, where I specialised in the review of organisation's IT departments, strategies, policies and processes.

JBA Software was a leading ERP software provider in Europe. I joined the Irish organisation at the startup stage, as the first technical employee.I provided pre-sales support to the Managing Director and Sales Director as we bid for and won new business from a zero base. Subsequently I project managed and provided ERP product consultancy to our customers. I led and worked on projects across a wide range of manufacturing and distribution businesses.

AIG is a global general insurance provider.I worked in the Data Processing department of their Irish office. My role was principally to undertake system and software maintenance and to provide support to the local user base. I was seconded to the UK office for a period to work on a major systems upgrade project.

Nixdorf Computer was the 4th largest computer company in Europe, with a wide range of services and technologies.I worked in the Irish Software Development Unit, programming new software and modifications for Irish customers in Financial Services, Agri-Food and Retail.
