After spending 13 years in the Army, I followed what I suppose would be classed as the normal trend, moving into Close Protection and Door supervisor. Through an unexpected introduction I found myself engaged in the debt world within BrightHouse where I was swiftly promoted from Asset Recovery Assistant to Asset Recovery Manager and then in to a Divisional position. I was able, in this role to alter the path of Company collection strategy offering better forbearance measures to the customers. After 2 successful years in this role I moved into Supply Chain firstly based in Bothwell, Scotland aiding the company with process and procedures, implementation and training bringing the site to an acceptable level and ready for handover to an LDC Manager. Once the position was filled I was asked to take over Manchester assuming the position of LDC Manager. This was fraught with its own challenges where a team had to be developed from the ground up. This was a successful turnaround and after a company decision to merge two sites into one I was offered the position of Regional Health and Safety Manager. Whilst at the LDC I had already put myself through IOSH Managing Safely and CIEH and it was a personal goal of mine to continue with my accreditation’s. I completed my NEBOSH General Certificate and have started NEBOSH Diploma. The job role as Regional Health and Safety Manager meant implementing and training out a full, new Safety Management System and cover 144 retail stores and as Supply Chain business partner 9 Local Distribution Centres, a National Service Centre and National Distribution Centre.
