Derek Orsi is a Canadian record producer, recording engineer, mixer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and DJ. He received a Bachelor's degree in Integrative Music Studies at Concordia University in 2008 and later founded The Freq Shop recording studio in 2011 with long time friend Dave Traina.The Montreal based recording facility has been home to an eclectic mix of artists from all over the continent and has produced releases for Universal Music Group, Stomp Records and Coyote Records. Derek also recorded several live sessions for Montreal's CHOM 97.7 FM's "Shows To Go" series and has had the pleasure of working alongside Juno award winning producer Jean Massicotte and grammy nominated producer Brandon Frieson in Los Angeles.Derek has toured and written music with many different bands including The Damn Truth, By The Fiends, I Shot Samo, The Shannon Index and Kamikaze Baby. He also worked as an Alternative-Pop DJ on the Montreal club scene and performed several times at Osheaga's Artist World. He taught music production at Recording Arts Canada and has given seminars on the topic for Evenko's Entertainment Management Conference.
