“Healthy Care and Love for others begins and is support by a sincere commitment on inner cultivation of Self-Care and Self-Love”Derek is a registered Clinical Psychologist who works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of presentations such as; mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and stress-related disorders, chronic health issues and pain, gender dysphoria, grief (including pet or parent loss), personality disorders, dissociative disorders including DID, social or behavioural difficulties, and developmental disorders.Derek has experience working with people who happen to be gender or sexually diverse and people who may be in non-monogamous, non-traditional or kink-positive relationships.Derek draws on a range of therapy approaches depending on the needs of each individual, some of these include; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Her personal interests include trauma-informed yoga, the potential benefits of nature experience, connection to nature, meditation and mindfulness.Derek is an animal-assisted therapist, (accredited visiting therapy dog & handler by Lead the Way) and works with Valentina the Italian Greyhound – many clients find the presence of the animals in the therapy space helps to put them at ease, especially children.Derek is an Intuitive and integrative therapist and physician who works with reconnecting inner wisdom and inner potential utilizing a compassion-personalized approach.Derek was born an intuitive and highly empathic person from a multicultural family which allowed him to reach others with curiosity and enthusiasm, transforming experiences into an adventure while appreciating new knowledge.
