Graduated from the Propel Launch program with my company Swifty Parking - an online Airbnb for parking model, which allows residents to submit and rent their parking space for students, nurses and other commuters flooding into the downtown. Ultimately I decided not to pursue the company given the following two key insights. First - While we did receive some encouraging traction initially and had paying customers - ultimately the HOSTS were not sufficiently motivated to rent their space for $100-150 per month in large enough numbers. Recruiting Hosts 1 by 1 was not sustainable and we were not interested in reselling existing parking spaces - we wanted to disrupt the parking paradigm but adding new spaces.Secondly - a combination of acquisition cost and customer service cost meant that profitability would remain elusive even with widespread acceptance.This was perhaps the most singularly transformative experience of my life and I will cherish and foster the lessons learned.
