Involvement in the organization began in 2002, with the Advisory Board, and since then the company has more than doubled in appraised value, despite the downturn in real estate markets of 2009-2010.

Designed the technical architecture that propelled Carrot Health to its last five years of exponential growth. Architected and created cloud-based applications and databases to handle PII that exceed HIPAA security requirements. Developed mathematical tools, procedures, and programmatic automation to create analytical insights behind MarketView(TM), currently with an inventory of over 400 models. Helped grow the organization from a 4 person startup to a eight figure ARR business within 5 years.

The Works is a rapidly growing elementary engineering education museum and resource center, showing kids K-6 that "Engineering is Cool!" Goal is to awaken the inner engineer in every child. Current yearly attendance is over 40k, and operating budget is over $600k. Board involvement began in 2004, and since then operating budget has tripled and admissions have quadrupled.Coordinated site search, $3M capital campaign, and transition to a new facility. While The Works needed to expand, the specific impetus for the move was unexpectedly losing our lease in the Edina community center. As Board Chair, completed an exercise with the Board as to how to handle this exact situation, to prepare to deal with the crisis. Within 5 months of losing the lease, new facility closing was completed. Managed the transition with a minimum of lost time and revenue.Interviewed, negotiated salary, and hired a new CEO for the organization.Coordinated Executive transition between charismatic Founder and experienced new CEO.

Combination role of principal modeler and data scientist, as well as the leader of a new company-wide modeling community.Created mathematical models in R and SAS/JMP to predict hardware failure. Extensive experience with 5Gb+ faint signal / high noise data sets, and with data scrubbing. Developed R scripts to automate various processes from k-means clustering to zero variance column removal. Utilized machine learning techniques such as decision forest and neural networks to identify faint signals.Launched a new cross-functional initiative to bring technical experts doing any sort of mathematical modeling anywhere in the company together in a community. This diverse and inclusive community adds value by allowing sharing of ideas and modeling methods across disciplines, promotes use of modeling best practices, and provides tools to enable more efficient development and refinement of models.The community has grown exponentially, with hundreds of members across 6 different Seagate sites so far. The crowdsourced Model Index has also expanded to include over 145 separate mathematical models, with more being added by community members all the time.

Managed a segment of a multi-billion dollar program that productizes a new and disruptive datastorage technology.Doubled the pace of learning on the project in first 3 months of ownership through requirements based experiment prioritization, aggressive materials management, and increased accountability for results.Demonstrated feasibility and shipped demonstration units within 12 months, a goal that had been pursued unsuccessfully for 5 years prior.Managed team that increased technology and process maturity, enabling a steady and predictable supply of parts to customers, exceeding their volume requirements within the first 3 months of shipments.Improved alignment with customer needs and accelerated pace of learning at both facilities by implementing a cooperative customer communications strategy.Created staffing plan and organizational structure modifications that supported new company objectives, and created support for necessary changes.

Coordinated a geographically and functionally diverse team to integrate next generation thermomechanical technologies (Dual Heater and DE-TcR) into Della platform recording heads. Transitioned design, process, usage, and test to teams in Minnesota, Colorado, Singapore and Bangkok.Developed integration plan which reduced time to learning by over 3 months through re-tasking existing material in innovative manners.Delivered tested HGAs to meet aggressive customer timeline by solving numerous technical challenges.

Lead cross-functional matrixed teams based across three continents to integrate emerging technologies into cutting-edge data storage products.Manage budget for development and integration of these technologies.Represent the heads division to customers, and provide a point contact for all communication.

Successfully launched the next generation of burnish heads enabling closure to product roadmap requirements. There was no formal team assigned for development, nor for receipt of the technology, and extensive influence management was required.Developed innovative quantitative techniques for assigning a “figure of merit” to competing burnish head designs; previously a highly qualitative process.Coordinated unified material transition plan for burnish heads, incorporating independent end of life planning for burnish on 12+ programs.

• Developed business, financial, and marketing plans for market entry into the Electronic Medical Records market. VersaChart, an SaaS EMR product, developed by partner, Dr. Scott Schell, over 8 years, and has 2M records, and over 200k usage-hours. Only 50% of the $1M required for launch was obtained, and the window of launch as established by the ARRA legislation, closed prior to completion of phase 1 fundraising.
