Systems Engineer
CurrentSystems Engineer responsible for Academic Lab Systems “Computer Labs” & Multi User IT Solutions- VDI – Nutanix / AHV / Citrix; VMware vSAN / ESXi / vROPS / Horizon; Citrix AppLayering (formerly Unidesk)- Windows Client Support – WDS / WSUS / MDT / File and Web Support services – imaging supporting digital signage, presentation computers, lending laptops, lecture capture- Digital Signage – FWI hosted service, content and data servers, content player OS image management- System and servers supporting business applications for the academic environment- Network administration and management for the above related systems- Supported the IT operations half of the shop as wellResponsibilities-Analyze, Design, and Prototype – consulted, researched , analyzed, and tested in order to design new solutions including networking, storage, hardware, and software.-Deploy – Procured, installed, and/or configured hardware and software: network equipment, hypervisors, storage software, operating systems, databases, web hosting applications, end user applications, security systems. Validated system for expected function.- Maintain – Documented, updated, monitored, upgraded, tested, and performed process improvement or feature additions over time. Provided training and training documentation as needed.Specific Technologies- Nutanix AHV, Acropolis OS; Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, AppLayering (Unidesk); VMware vSAN, ESXi, vCenter, vROPS, Horizon; Microsoft Server Active Directory, File Server, SQL Server, WDS, WSUS, MDT, IIS, Storage Spaces, MDOP; Dell Hardware; light scripting via powershell, bash, command line; DNS / BIND; OSes: Microsoft Server, Windows, Linux (most commonly CentOS), MacOS
