Responsible for the financial planning, analysis and accounting functions for the ISGBU division, which consists of the Individual, Small Group (2 to 51 employees) and Government (Medicare and California state programs) lines of business.Scope includes everything from the bread and butter finance activities (FP&A, close, project ROI/NPV, etc.) to product development/pricing and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities included strategic planning and finance for the West Region. Created a program designed to provide investment capital to healthcare facilities serving low-income urban and rural underserved communities. Successfully balanced conflicting priorities of a stringent set of corporate investment guidelines, an advisory committee made up of provider/consumer advocacy leaders and heavy involvement of several regulatory agencies (DMHC, DOI, DHS, etc.).Successfully invested more than $225 million in 18 healthcare facilities - while remaining in compliance with our corporate investment policies.I was also a part of the Political Affairs department with responsibilities that included serving as Treasurer of WellPAC (the WellPoint Political Action Committee), managing compliance with federal and state campaign finance law and directing all grassroots political advocacy campaigns designed to influence healthcare legislation at both the state and federal levels.
