Sr. Developer / It Infrastructure Manager
I was initially hired as a Sr. Developer at Sanders Morris Harris (SMH). My greatest accomplishment as a Developer at SMH was the architecture and implementation of Clearing Data Management System (CDMS). This application pulled clearing data files from various third party sources on a daily basis, processed the data using VB.NET and SQL Server and emailed reports to the appropriate individuals. Other projects included a corporate Intranet, corporate websites for subsidiaries and other ancillary applications needed to make the business more efficient. In 2006, we hired a second developer, who reported to me. During my time at SMH, I began to work closely with the CTO on the IT Infrastructure side of the business. After some time, I became responsible for all servers and storage. Using VMware and EqualLogic, I was able to implement server virtualization as a key business strategy, reducing the number of physical servers by 75% over 2 years. My experience at SMH was invaluable as it provided me to the opportunity to learn the infrastructure side of IT, while still maintaining the position of Development Lead on all custom built applications.
Contract Programmer
I was a lone developer on an ASP timesheet application where users could log in and enter time via the web. I later converted the web site to an ASP.NET application. The application used SQL Server and stored procedures to house and manipulate the data. I wrote custom reports using ASP.NET so they could be accessible from the web. The web site also included a file repository so the users could upload/download files via HTTPS. The second part of my responsibility dealt with Magellan-K12’s main application, APPLE. I wrote about 50 Crystal Reports which were developed to be stand-alone or integrated within the VB.NET application. The reports used OLE DB (ADO) to retrieve data from multiple SQL Server stored procedures. These stored procedures were very extensive using nested loops, temporary tables, fetches, and cursors to produce the flat table required by Crystal Reports.
Developer
At HealthHelp, I was responsible for architecting and developing multi-tiered data import applications for large data files from HealthHelp’s clients (Aetna, BCBS, UNH, etc.) These programs contained a VB interface which parsed and created a set of common format files for the various provider files. The common format files were then fed through a data loader which was built using a Visual Basic and SQL Server. The use of a multi-tiered approach was necessary since the payer specific formats varied so drastically. I also worked on HealthHelp applications to be integrated into HealthHelp’s Portal. The portal was built using dynamic ASP/SQL. The use of function sharing was leveraged across all of the applications in the portal, creating a cohesive environment, allowing programmers to concentrate on the business rules of the applications while maintaining the “look and feel” of the portal.
Internet Systems Engineer
I was responsible for architecting and building iVita’s corporate intranet. The application was built using ASP/JavaScript/DHTML along with some ActiveX controls on the front end and SQL Server on the back end. The site was personalized by querying the Exchange Server using ADSI for the mailbox properties of the user via their logon ID. I was also the lead developer for the web portion of iVita’s core product (iVita Commander). This included multiple checks done in ASP and JavaScript for proper browser, platform, cookies, etc. Toward the end of my time at iVita, I was moved to the reporting team where the reports for iVita Commander were generated using Actuate. The parameters of the reports were chosen via a user interface using an ASP/JavaScript front end accessing a COM middle-tier housed by a SQL Server back end.
Web Developer
My time at Indata included two separate consulting positions: 1) First Union Capital Markets in Charlotte, 2) Lyondell Citgo Refinery in Houston. Both of these positions used a workflow technology called ActionWorks. This technology was used in conjunction with SQL Server on the back end and either Cold Fusion or ASP on the front end. I also worked on various projects developing the necessary skills needed to build client-server applications. Some of these projects included database retrieval via Cold Fusion from a SQL Server Database. Other projects included code written in Visual Basic.
