Managing all aspects of engineering groups in the planning, design and global implementation of highly scalable, fully redundant and cost-efficient solutions for a 2,000-person firm across 6 data centers. Leading a team of 18 engineers across server, storage, backup, database, platform automation and continuous integration/delivery. Led on-premise and multiple public cloud-based implementations.• Collaborated with business units on the design and implementation of cloud services, resulting in deployment to multiple AWS accounts and Google projects, including services built on Red Hat OpenShift container platform.• Defined and implemented the procedure to ensure correct allocation of reserved instances in Amazon Web Services resulting in $1M pa savings.• Reduced user downtime from hours per month to near zero and minimized operational overhead on a shared file services system by implementing a scale out network-attached storage platform in place of Windows file server.• Implemented the metrics and procedure to allow business units to be charged directly for cloud-based expenses and show back for on-premise infrastructure, resulting in the distribution of $400k per month back to the business.• Expanded a virtualization pilot to a multi-site fully redundant implementation hosting 1,100 virtual machines, eliminating the cost of 600 physical servers and 500 physical desktops.• Reviewed the technology stack and process/procedures in place for the implementation of CI/CD pipeline tools, resulting in documented gap analysis and the ability for the team to publish its capabilities.• Identified a new hardware maintenance partner and implemented a multi-year program producing 50% annual savings on the cost of hardware maintenance.• Replaced 28 spinning disk arrays with 3 all-flash arrays resulting in reduced operational costs by $1M pa and data center footprint of shared storage by 80%.

• Transformed an ad-hoc support group into a cohesive unit providing 24-hour company-wide monitoring, support and break fix for all data center hardware and applications.• Implemented a service oriented monitoring philosophy, moving away from servers as individual entities and looking more at overall monitoring of applications and systems. • Wrote and managed the Request for Proposal process to determine the possibility of outsourcing a number of infrastructure services. Key contributor to the assessment and eventual outsource of level 1 and level 2 support.
