My interest in Maintenance or Facilities started as an interest in woodwork. I started working for a contractor to help build build in cupboards. From there i enrolled to a Youth Skills training center where i did a course in Carpentry and Joinery. I then went on to do subcontracting jobs mainly concentrating on Roofing and Ceiling installations. During this time i also learned plumbing, bricklaying and some basic electrician skills. I saw an ad in the newspaper for a Carpenter position at Avani Hotel and applied eventually getting the job. Here i acquired a lot of other skills from spray-painting to upholstery. Growth opportunities are big at this company so I grabbed every opportunity i got. From job coach to supervisory development to leadership courses, I did them. I still see myself growing as i am still young and wish to grab every opportunity and new challenge coming my way.
