With over 30 years of experience in power industry, Derick consults on large scale power and utility projects and is committed to providing solutions on every level from design, construction, installation, commissioning, project management, inspections, safety, equipment procurement, overhead and underground power, and alternative energy solutions. Recent clients have included Grand Bahama Power Company, Freeport Container Port, BORCO, Hutchison Lucaya Ltd., Old Bahama Bay (GDC Development), and the Government of the Bahamas. Recently, Derick acted as the owners representative for the $65 million dollar Airport Gateway Road Project in Nassau, Bahamas. He was responsible for reviewing engineered drawings, overseeing the relocation and installation of all utilities along a 6.2 mile roadway and the construction of a new 132kV overhead power line. Additionally, he served as owner's rep for the Baha Mar West Bay Street road diversion project where he was responsible for overseeing the relocation and installation of all underground utilities along 1.2 miles of roadway. Derick successfully worked as an owner's rep for the Baha Mar Corridor 7 that connected West Bay Street with JFK drive. His responsibilities included the review of drawings and the inspection of the construction of a new 132kV overhead power line, and installation and commissioning of all underground power, phone and cable utilities.

Successfully directed and managed all assets of Transmission and Distribution Department for Grand Bahama Power Company. Coordinated and managed all operations and developed maintenance budgets. Initiated and implemented a Global Information System (GIS) to manage the existing assets for the company. Administered and managed a 12 million dollar contract for a 69KW power line. This dedicated line originated at the plant and extended 22 miles to the proposed project in West End, Grand Bahama.

Responsible for the daily operations, purchasing, and overall maintenance of the Transmission and Distribution Department. Developed and implemented strategies to replace the outdated primary switches to a more modern vacuum system using SF6 technology. Assisted with the implementation of a centrally computerized system for the T & D department. In 1999, led and directed a team to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Floyd that hit Abaco, Bahamas. Following the assessment, managed the construction and restoration of power lines on the mainland and surrounding cays. Selected as part of a team to establish strategies to implement a customer service call centre. Successfully managed the construction of a new primary service for the Marietta Aggregates plant in Grand Bahama.

Managed and coordinated multiple large scale projects to include the design and construction of a 69/12.5 KV substation to service the Freeport Container Port and the 69/12.5 KV substation servicing the ship care facility. Led and directed a team in the design and construction of 46 miles of 69/15KV overhead power to east Grand Bahama.Consulted and was part of the Southern Company's assessment team for the acquisition of Jamaica Public Service Company, Ltd. Included in the assessment was the Transmission and Distribution system and Customer Service Operation Centre. Also, as part of acquisition team for the Southern Company Ltd, assisted with assessment for the acquisition of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority.
