I am an articulate and highly motivated individual with nearly 20 years’ experience in secondary school education. My current management role is at Greenfaulds High School where I lead on careers’ education and employer engagement/partnerships. I’m keen to work with a wide range of employers on employability skills, work taster and work experience to help ensure that all our students achieve a positive post-school destination.I teach Modern Studies, Criminology and Social Subjects. I have recently introduced the NPA Criminology courses at both Level 5 and 6. In addition, I regularly revise lessons and resources for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. I also supervise Advanced Higher dissertations – students are required to produce a 5000-word dissertation on issues linked to law and order.My professional areas of interest incluude educational leadership and policy, inclusive pedagogy, partnerships with employers and employability skills and coaching and mentoring of student and newly qualified teachers. I am currently working towards a doctorate in education. I have recently completed a postgraduate course on educational leadership at the University of Strathclyde. My undergraduate and Master’s research focused on US foreign policy in the Middle East and the importance of trust in peace building in post-conflict zones.I have also studied German and I’m currently at a B1 level on the CEFR. I have recently completed a TEFL course and in the last year I have supported adult learners with the learning of English. I understand the challenges and opportunities of language acquisition and I’m keen to continue to expand my experience as a TEFL teacher.My experience within the teaching profession, academic studies and learning German means I effectively and efficiently manage my workload and studying through excellent planning, organisation and time management skills. And I do all this whilst maintaining excellent relationships across all areas of responsibility and interests.I’m keen to look for new opportunities in the following areas: - New employer partnerships- Content creation and development of new educational resources (previously published)- Coaching and mentoring student teachers and NQTs - Tutoring learners of English-
