I founded New Found Sound in 2006 and have over 20 years experience marketing and promoting music and creative projects. We currently manage press and social media for Scottish Music Centre, Manchester industry conference Un-Convention, live music gig swap and artist development CIC Off Axis and I co-write a weekly column for Scotland on Sunday (having done so since 2007).From June - October 2022, I was the Engagement, Outreach and Participation Officer for all Green Space Dark Skies events throughout Scotland. I was Marketing Manager for Cryptic’s amazing Sonica festival (November 2021 - April 2022)From September - November 2021 we teamed up with We Make Music Work (on behalf of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance and FiiS) for Common Ground Fest (one-day festival) during COP26. We managed all social media accounts, from content creation to posts, and oversaw press, advertising and photography. In July 2021, we performed a similar service, managing all social media and press activities for Manchester-based conference / festival Un-Convention CIC, the first music conference to take place in person post-covid. One of our longest running clients is Scottish Music Centre, we manage press and marketing and all their social media accounts, including for their youth music projects Musicplus+ and Hit The Road. We’ve been doing this since 2014.We’ve provided a similar service (press and marketing) for XpoNorth, Dumfries Music Conference and Wide Days / Born To Be Wide (which Derick co-founded). We’ve worked with Keren McKean and We Make Music Work, since 2008 and have collaborated, created, marketed, programmed and managed award-winning, bi-weekly live music experiential marketing campaign The Mill (a gig each week in both Glasgow and Edinburgh) and other festivals, gigs and conferences. Derick has 5 years experience as the Marketing and (Junior) Business Development Manager for Saltire Taverns (Le Monde Hotel, Shanghai Nightclub, Angels Share, Frankenstein). From recruiting and managing large teams of promotional staff to setting up sponsorship deals with student societies and commercial businesses. Throughout my 17 year music and marketing career, New Found Sound and other organisations I’ve provided services for, have promoted and marketed hundreds of live gigs, festivals, conferences and club nights.
