About Derk Webbink
Last summer, I changed roles into a professional path that suits my character, working in HR. As an HRBP, I get the chance to be the bridge between the employees (needs) and the management team. Being creative, entrepreneurial, and structured, I can connect empathy with (scale-up) business goals. I am currently open to new interim opportunities in HR. How did I get here? A brief introduction to my professional journey will hopefully make you eager to reach out, since I'm always in the mood to connect. After graduation, I decided that I wanted to work on my childhood dream: starting a (internationally oriented) clothing brand. I wasn't ready for it at all. To be more mature, I designed a roadmap to complete outstanding competencies. The first stop was to be more internationally oriented; let's go to Kenya. I worked in various roles in Tourism. Continuing the journey at Parrot Agency, an internationally oriented fashion agent working in high-end women's designer clothes and fashion. Making progress in some of the competencies made me feel excited. Seeing a lot in my first years as a professional gave me the confidence to mature at my own pace. Back to the roots and the origin of the roadmap gave me two more tasks: saving money while working in a regenerative way to start the clothing brand and updating my knowledge about the current state of the retail landscape. I like working with my hands, so to generate income, I worked as an interior builder multiple days a week. Simultaneously, I worked at the clothing store, where I developed the desire to start my clothing brand (BOWIES). This was a lovely balance. During three years, I saved enough money to buy the first stock, created a platform (website) for customers to experience the brand's values, and worked with super intelligent people from various professional roles.Curious to know more about BOWIES? https://bowies-essentials.com/
