I led a business unit with a $10 million budget and a team of 40 scientists, land acquisition and management specialists, community conservationists, policy strategists as well as nonprofit development, finance and marketing leaders. Under my leadership, the Conservancy collaborated with trustees, philanthropists, supporters and partners to deliver tangible lasting results for Georgia. I guided the Conservancy's work in the state of Georgia to improve forest health, restore freshwater systems and transform ocean management by connecting the global organization's science-driven strategies to the communities we served.ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Entrusted with the leadership of the organization during a critical time of staff and fundraising transition. • Preserved the Conservancy’s strong reputation in Georgia by securing staff support and trustee engagement for the successful execution of all management functions and core business activities including finance, philanthropy, conservation, government relations and marketing. • Guided the organization through the development of a five year strategic plan.• Advanced a nine-state team for the protection and restoration of longleaf pine throughout its historic range.• Championed conservation of the South Atlantic seascape by working across four states on ocean use planning and coastal restoration.• Fostered cross-border collaboration for the sustainable management of two major river systems.• Broadened the constituency for conservation through the development of an environmental leadership program for urban youth. • Helped guide the implementation of a more than $25 million private fundraising campaign that leveraged almost $125 million in public funding. • Directed a department of science specialists and their contractors with expertise in conservation planning, aquatic and terrestrial ecology to achieve conservation objectives.• Managed the development of annual budgets and staff work plans as well as the department's relationship with the Board of Trustees.

The Environmental Protection Division is a state government agency responsible for protecting and restoring Georgia’s environment through planning, regulation, monitoring, technical assistance and education. I launched a communication and education program for the Commissioner of the Department and the Director of the Division to encourage citizens to conserve water during an historic drought. I served on the leadership team for the statewide water management plan, regarded as one of the strongest water planning efforts in the country, by helping guide the development of ten regional water plans. ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Led a committee created by the Commissioner and composed of outreach professionals inside and outside of the agency that developed water conservation products and programs for homeowners, facility managers and teachers.• Generated $200,000 in private and public funds to produce program elements such as public awareness materials packaged for water providers and an online information clearinghouse designed for multiple audiences.• Orchestrated the regional water planning kickoff meeting for 300+ elected officials, agency heads and regional council members.• Administered the development of a regional water plan for north Georgia.

I directed a national school improvement program that provided professional learning experiences, funding and technical support for a network of more than 100 K-12th grade teachers and school administrators in Georgia. I also coordinated a national water science training program that has reached almost 10,000 educators in Georgia.ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Negotiated the delivery of the two national programs to Georgia by lobbying the program leadership, establishing state government positions to administer them, garnering the approval of the State Board of Education, and creating a fundraising partnership with a nonprofit organization. • Cultivated relationships with donors that resulted in $200,000 for program elements including community conservation projects conducted by students and a traveling display of water-themed poetry and art created by students.

Dunwoody Nature Center is a community-based nonprofit organization that works within a county park to provide environmental education programs and manage environmental improvement projects. I led the Center's exponential growth by forming meaningful connections with the audiences it served – community leaders, donors, local businesses, families, schools, scouts and other park enthusiasts. ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Generated a ten-fold increase in visitorship through the development and promotion of programs and a six-fold increase in revenue through the execution of fee-for-service programs, private fundraising strategies and public grant awards.
